Research basics
Citing Sources
Citing your sources is one of the most important tasks of any research project. When gathering information from any source and using that information to complete a project, you must document where the information comes from. If you don't cite your sources, it's called plagiarism. Copying information word for word, copying a quote, copying a summary, or paraphrasing without citing authorship is plagiarism. In addition, plagiarism is a serious offense that may have consequences. If you borrowed quotes, facts, opinions, etc, you must cite your sources.
